The SIGMA Project consortium is hosting a final dissemination event covering the research that SIGMA has been engaging in over the past three years into decentralised energy systems in Sub-Saharan Africa, specifically in the project’s partner countries: Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Senegal. 

Join us in Guildford or online and hear firsthand from the SIGMA project’s partner teams regarding the results of the research collaboration, including issues critical to the success of energy access and sustainable energy for all in remote/rural Sub-Saharan Africa.

SIGMA Project Webinar - 31st March 2023, Online

The SIGMA project will be hosting a whole-team webinar on the 31st March 2023, from 9 AM - 12 PM (GMT). This webinar will discuss our current outputs from the project, as well as our ongoing research activities on the sustainability, inclusiveness and governance of mini-grids in Africa. Presenters from ICEED Nigeria, TaTEDO in Tanzania and the CFIA in Kenya will discuss the latest research on the project.

TaTEDO Webinar for SIGMA Project - 2nd February 2023, Online

The team from the TaTEDO Centre for Sustainable Energy Services are hosting a webinar on the 2nd February 2023. This event will run from 11 AM to 1 PM EAT, and will present themes from the SIGMA project, an overview of the status of minigrids in Tanzania, and findings from our team on tariffs for minigrid services and the minigrid regulatory framework in Tanzania.

Burundi Energy Access Day - 5th Oct 2022, Bujumbura, Burundi

ARE and the Burundi Renewable Energy Association (BUREA), with the support of GET.invest Burundi, financed by the European Union and part of GET.invest, will organise the Burundi Renewable Energy Day on 5 October 2022. The event will be held as part of the Burundi Energy Access Days organised with the World Bank on 4-5 October 2022, under the patronage of the Government of Burundi, the Ministry of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines (MHEM) and the Directorate General of Energy. 

The Burundi Renewable Energy Day on 5 October will include a session on investment opportunities and private sector pitches on innovative renewable energy projects in Burundi.

International Energy Transition Week - Nigeria -31st Oct-4th Nov 2022, Abuja, Nigeria

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), with support from Government of Nigeria are delighted to invite you to the International Energy Transition Week Nigeria (IETW Nigeria) on 31 October – 4 November 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria. There will be three on-site events and an exhibition to showcase innovative products and services on energy provision through the entire week. The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) is the industry partner of IETW Nigeria and organiser of the exhibition.
