On 2nd March 2020 the UKRI-GCRF SIGMA project was officially launched. The project website was published on the day. Prof. Bhattacharyya, PI of the project, informed that the project team is really excited to undertake the work and the project partners are eagerly looking forward to participate to deliver the project objectives. Our understanding about the performance and contribution of mini-grids to local socio-economic development has been limited. This project aims to bridge this gap through an ex-post analysis of mini-grids in four sub-Saharan African countries and the knowledge from the work would allow us develop better strategies for electricity access in the region and more widely.
